There are several devices that one can use to receive a connection to the internet. The most common internet device is a USB modem. This device is connected to the computer or laptop by way of USB port. In order for the modem to work, the customer must purchase time with a provider. Most USB devices are sold through a cell phone provider. Customers can pay for them on either a prepaid or a monthly plan.

An individual may also use his or her cellular phone for an internet connection. The cell phone company provides data service. The customer can connect the cell phone to the computer and share the internet service from the phone with the computer. Only certain devices have this capability and it usually requires the customer to download a third party program to operate effectively.

A tablet is also a wireless internet device. It is a cross between a mobile phone and a laptop. The typical size of a tablet is nine inches wide and approximately seven inches high. Tablets are able to pick up Wi-Fi connections a certain distance away from the device. With the Wi-Fi connection, the customer is able to browse the internet and perform various functions.

Once you’ve poured over all the wireless internet providers in Philly and decided mobile internet is what’s best for you you’re ready to get out there and get connected. Being outdoors and online is one of the best ways to use this technology – here are a few of our favorite Philly parks:
Bardascino Park: It’s family friendly and really green – a great place to get online and get some work done. Even once winter hits you’ll be happy to know this park’s got spaces you can use to get online and feel relaxed.
Rittenhouse Square: It’s one of the most professionally friendly parks in town and when it’s not overrun with suits you can find a great place to lay down in the heat of the day. Head here after work and get some surfing done while the sun goes down.
Palumbo Park: It’s so quiet here you might even get the willies – how can such an urban oasis exist? If you truly need solitude and not people watching, this is the place you’ll want to head. Go before dark to stay safe.

Technology is progressing as I write this blog and you read it. I remember when my desktop computer was hooked up to a telephone line in order to connect to the internet. I also remember it being really cool that I could have a phone that wasn’t attached to the base by a cord and I could walk around freely. Well the marriage between these technology types continues to grow and multiply. Wi-Fi is one of the technology advances that has transformed the way we exchange information. The use of Wi-Fi branched out from its use with computers, and laptops to other devices such as cameras, LED lighting, personal weight scales, busses, cars, and other devices. If trends continue Wi-Fi will be the default connection in all homes. What we can expect in the future from Wi-Fi is a smoother overall experience for the user. Advancements in Wi-Fi will be a more effortless connection to third-party networks like cafes, and airports. There will be availability to Wi-Fi anywhere you go even away from hotspots. Users want better connectivity between applications, devices, and networks. We can look forward to all our gadgets moving between cellular and Wi-Fi connections without a glitch.

AT & T is expanding their wireless broadband network in Philadelphia and the surrounding areas due to a recent increase in the amount of people accessing the Internet through AT&T’s network. This expansion will include improvements to their 4G network and existing 3G networks as well to cover more devices still utilizing 3G networking platforms. Construction has already commenced on several new carrier towers to meet the continually increasing wi-fi demands in the Philadelphia area. There has been no firmly established end date as to when these improvements will be completed and in full operation.

The increase is to help create more connections to improve the speed and reliability of those connections for both mobile broadband voice and data services. The additional of newly created resources adds more wi-fi hot spots and therefore increases capacity. The airport, North and South Philadelphia, Tacony, Richmond and Center City are cited as areas where the new amplified broadband service will be most evident.

AT & T also recently announced that they are providing free Internet access to all users in 20 of New York’s parks. Plans to offer this in Philadelphia are still undergoing the initial decision process to bring this into reality. There is no set date on this yet.

Wi fi technologies are something which have been around for several years, which allow for people to use the internet on their wireless devices, whether it is a cell phone, pda, or now tablet and laptop computers, no matter where they are, and no matter what time of day it is. These wireless hot spots allow for users to get online, check emails, communicate with clients or friends, and be able to use the internet, just as if they could when they are at home, or in the office, on their stationed desktop computer.Never heard of this before? Get up to speed here. The beauty of wi fi internet, is that it is accessible to all people, so, whether you need to communicate with clients, or, you just want to talk to friends, you are able to do so no matter where you are.

Today, wimax technologies have taken wi fi to the next level. You can now get wider ranges, and move further away from the wi fi hot spots, and still get a great connection. This goes for all wireless devices. So whether it is your laptop, or your mobile phone, you can still access the web from much further away from these hot spots than in the past.
